    American Express Financial Review Triggers

Does anyone know exactly what actions can trigger an Amex Financial Review? Seems like they are becoming more and more common and I am somewhat hesitant to really ramp up my spending with them until I know I won't have to waste hours going through the process. It seems like you have no option but to comply or they shut down your account and give you the boot.

It really isn't that bad they just ask for proof of income and a tax return.

From everything that I've read the main trigger is an increase in spending. A Financial review is just risk assessment, if your potential risk goes up because of more spending, a missed payment etc you can expect them to review your account.

I would imagine another trigger would be a high number of recent credit inquires.

I've heard that Amex actually continually monitors customers using soft credit pulls to attempt to detect changes in risk.
