Amex Plan to Win Back Lost Costco Customers

By all accounts, Costco customers accounted for about 8% of American Express's business. And Amex hatched a plan to win back that business.

What I've read is that Amex will mail out to former TrueEarnings cardholders specials offers for the Blue Cash Everyday Card. These special offers will include:

    • $250 statement credit after you spend $1,000 in the first three months
    • 0% APR for 15 months

My question is: will they also be making special offers for the Blue Cash Preferred Card? No annual fee is nice, but 6% back on groceries is nicer in my mind, and worth the BCP's $75 annual fee.

Sounds like a good plan. But aren't these incentives available to everyone already?

I just looked it up to make sure. The current Blue Cash Everyday offer is (i) $150 back after you spend $500, and (ii) 0% APR for 12 months.

So better intro APR offer. And you can earn more bonus cash, but you will need to spend more to do it. And the bonus cash is less as a percentage of spending (25% on the Costco customer offer, 30% on the regular offer).

I would think either the BCP or BCE would make a nice complement to the Anywhere card because of the bump at regular grocery stores and department stores - places where families shop!

I've not received anything. Which is a shame, since I am interested. And I want a card that includes "Amex Offers", which I hear good things about.

I'd be interested in this offer. Send it my way Amex!

I think of the American Express plan is to let us experience terrible customer service with Citibank.

The latest escapades from Wells Fargo is not going to help big bank card issuers either. In the long run, I think Amex will be just fine.
