Simply Cash Plus Welcome Offer
I received a mailer for the Simply Cash Plus last night. Looks like a good card. And considering the size of my business, the $50,000 can on combined bonus category spending was not an issue.
What got me was the welcome offer. A $300 statement credit after spending $3,000 in the first three months is pretty good.
But when I looked online there was a different offer:
Earn up to $500 Cash Back as statement credits
Earn a $250 statement credit after you spend $5,000 in qualifying purchases on your Card within the first 6 months of Card Membership.
Plus, earn an additional $250 statement credit after you spend an additional $10,000 or more in qualifying purchases on your Card within the first year of Card Membership.
Do cards do this very often? Have multiple offers? How do you even know if you are getting the best offer?

I think this is pretty typical. There is one general offer. But mailers or other direct solicitations are sent to people they want to entice to apply.
Now the mailers usually have better offers. But that is not clear here. Your mailer offer is a better yield, but the general offer is more total money that you can earn.
FYI, if you are interested in a new business card, you may want to check out the new Chase Ink Business Preferred. It comes with a 80,000 point bonus offer opportunity. (Yes - you will need to spend $5,000 in three months to get it).

Regardless of the bonus offer, this is a great card. I've used it for years. Love it. And love American Express customer service.

I think the real advantage that Amex and Discover have over Visa and M/C (that we see) is the superior customer service. That is probably a by-product of the closed-loop network, without other intermediary banks involved.Current Fico Scores: 710 TU, 732 EQ
