I want to submit a 2nd price protection claim. Can I do that?

Has anyone here ever resubmitted a price protection claim due to finding a second, lower price drop? Do you think that can be done?

The basic scenario is that I bought something, found a lower price and submitted my claim. Discover covered the difference. But I just found an even lower price. So, do you think they will allow me to make another claim on the same purchase for the new even lower price?

It the extra savings worth the time of filling out the extra paperwork again? If you think it is, call customer service - which is a Discover strength. Ask if the program limits you to one claim per item.

I have not tried this myself. I know there are limitations on claims per item of $500, a 90 day window, and a $2,500 total limit per year. And I suspect that there is some rule that once you make a claim for an item, you cannot do it again for the same item.

Discover is know for its great customer service. So I'd call ask. If you are not satisfied that the rep has a handle on it, ask to speak to the supervisor and go from there. The, if you feel like you have a chance on re-submittal, file again for the 2nd price drop.

As you know, it will take a few weeks to get your results. So be patient. And if denied, you could always call customer service again.

But think about the possible time investment too. Worth it to save another $100+. Not so much if you are trying for another $10 or $20.

And remeember that just because a price protection is offered, it doesn't mean you will always be approved for it in every instance.

And who knows - maybe you found some loophole on the rules that they close by the time you are done.

I read on another forum about someone who bought 3 of the same item, but only got Discover to approve price protection approved on 2 out of 3 of the items.

So the system is not perfect. And maybe some rules we are not aware of to prevent fraud or whatnot.

Okay, Wiggens, that just makes the system sound arbitrary.

I'll re-submit my claim and report back in a few weeks as to whether you can make a 2nd claim on the same item after a 2nd, bigger drop, is found.
