The 4th quarter is now live - which will be nice for those who hit their quarter cap.

It would be nice if Discover raised the cap above $1,500. Especially for the fourth quarter.

That is a great point. Bank of America just upped their cash back bonuses to $2,500 in spending. If Discover was smart, they would meet that.
In fact, I bet they could retain more customers by increasing the limits on 5% spending, and the places you can earn those bonus points. Where the double your first year cash back promotion probably gets a lot of card hackers and people who barely use the card after the first year.

Yes. Some quarters it seems too easy to hit the $1,500 of bonus cat spending. And others too hard - since there are too few options.
And I never use my Discover card for non-bonus spending. Too easy to get better rewards with the Costco card or QS card.

I like the idea of Discover increasing the ceiling for the quarterly bonus. And the idea of expanding categories included.

I doubt Discover will change a thing about their rewards program for the time being.
Right now, they seem focused on customer service for customer retention. And I think it is working. They are now the most respected credit card issuer.
