AA Elite Qualifying Miles question
I've been traveling American for work the past six months or so. So I finally enrolled in their frequent flier program. And now I get monthly statements -- and these include something called "elite status qualification" miles, segments and dollars.
Anyone know what these are for? And how many I need to actually have them worth something?
Right now I have the following:
- 1,212 Elite Qualifying Miles
- 2 Elite Qualifying Segments
- 146 Elite Qualifying Dollars
And I will be flying American probably 3 or 4 times a year for work, as long as I stay at this job and we keep this new client.
Do I have any shot at elite status? And how much longer to go? And what is it worth?

I'm no expert, but I think you have a LONG ways to go. Like a minimum of 30 trips per year for the lowest tier.
