    Citi Quick Lock

    I guess Citi got a little jealous of Discover Freeze it because the now introduced Quick Lock.

    Yep, just hop on your mobile device, log in to your Citi card account, and you lock down your card. No new charges can be made on the card until you unlock it.



    This actually is great for me, since I tend to forget to take my card with me after paying at restaurants. Yes - I have actually done this twice this year already. Even though I know I have this bad habit, it still continues.

    I like the piece of mind of a Quick Lock or Freeze it offers. And I hope more card issuers offer it up soon.

    Don't forget Citi is also offering free credit scores now. Just like Discover.

    Discover is moving from forgotten brand to industry thought leader. All from a company spin off from Sears. Who'd a thunk it?

    I think the Citi ThankYou program still pales compared to Amex Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards. But the intro of the new Costco and Double Cash card have had me take a second look at their offerings this year. They are really starting to compete for my business.

    Now if we can just can get a welcome offer for either of those cards.

    The ThankYou rewards program works well if you use American. Just like Chase Ultimate Rewards work well if you use United.

    Unfortunately, there are plenty of airports where neither of those airlines is a great option.

    Only credit card companies can add a feature that benefits them -- tools to make it easier to prevent credit card fraud, for which they are responsible -- and market it as a feature that benefits you.

    This benefits me too. I still may need to call in. But I can't tell you how many times I've left a card at a restaurant. This way I can lock it down until I can go back and retrieve the card.
