    Sapphire Reserve Bonus Being Reduced

If you have not applied for the new Chase Sapphire Reserve card yet, you may want to hurry. January 11, 2017, will be the last day you can apply online and be eligible for the 100,000 point welcome offer (after spending $4.000 in the first three months).

After that, the offer will be cut to 50,000 points.

But all will not be lost on January 12th. You will still be able to apply in person a Chase branch locations and receive a CSR with the 100,000 point bonus offer thru March 12, 2017.

If you are interested in this 100,000 point welcome offer, you may want to act fast.

This sucks. It does not look like I'll ever clear the 5/24 rule and be eligible to get the 100,000 pt offer.

It was too good to last.

I read that Chase is rolling back the incentive offer because it was costing them too much offer.

When added to the perks of the card ($300 travel credit, TSA pre-check, lounge access, regular rewards points, redemption bonus on travel, etc.), the 100,000 points was so generous they were losing money on each new cardholder. Even after the $450 annual fee.

With this change go my dreams of a Paris vacation financed entirely on points. Maybe...

Glad I was able to jump on this one early. That bonus offer was too good to last. And I'm not sure the fee is worth it w/o that offer.

Not sure why anyone would choose CSR over Amex Platinum after the bonus offer is reduced. Seems like the Amex perks are otherwise better.

I am not even sure why you would choose the CSR over the regular Sapphire Preferred, since almost all the value of any of these cards is in the sign up offer.

Remember, you have until March 12th to sign up in a branch. Which is my plan. Open a new account at Chase and sign up at that time. I think it'll improve odds of approval.

I think you are right on this. In fact, the two-month delay may be to entice more open to open bank acc'ts and be able to cross sell them more products. (But they just won't bonus their employees for opening bogus accounts, so its okay.)
