    Annual Fees

I am new to card hacking. Just had a card come up with its annual fee, but I forgot to cancel it. Is there anything I can do now? Or do I just need to suck it up?

You should be able to call and cancel still, and get a refund of the fee (or at worst a pro-rated portion). If they pushback, ask to be moved to a similar card with no fee. Then they keep you as a customer, and that makes them more likely to compromise.

Welcome to card hacking! This happens to all of us. Especially when you start running like 4 or 5 cards. I use both a spreadsheet and calendar reminders now.

And, yes, you should be able to get the fee waived.

I switched over to the no-fee version, and they are crediting back the annual fee. Thanks for the advice.

Is it ever worth it to pay an annual fee?
