New Blue Cash Welcome Offers
American Express, along with updating the fee for the Blue Cash Preferred card to $95 (from $75), updated the welcome offer for both Blue Cash cards. These offers are applicable to new cardholders only.
Blue Cash Preferred - Earn up to $350 in bonus cash back:
- $150 cash bonus after spending $1,000 in first 3 months
- Earn 5% cash back on eligible travel purchases in the first 6 months, up to $200.
Blue Cash Everyday - Earn up to $300 in bonus cash back:
- $100 cash bonus after spending $1,000 in first 3 months
- Earn 5% cash back on eligible travel purchases in the first 6 months, up to $200.
Additionally, both cards offer 0% intro APR for 12 Months on both new purchases and balance transfers (but there is a 3% transfer fee).
Not the best bonus offers out there, IMHO. But these are both solid cash back cards - especially at the grocery store and the pump.

These offers look like they are best if you know you are about to spend $4,000 on travel expenses over 6 months. And even that only gives you a slight yield.
You'd be better off with the Capital One Venture card, Chase Sapphire Preferred or Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite Mastercard®, all of which would allow you to earn bonus points with between $400 and $625 by spending $4,000.

If I'm spending that much on travel, I'd prefer to do it on a new airline card or spread it over several new cards. The bonus will be far superior.

I took the opportunity to rap the BCP offered that expired at the beginning of August - including the lower annual fee. Glad I did. That was a far better offer.
Still a great card though.

I agree with Mary Anne. These offers are not as good as what Amex offered just a few weeks ago. And they seem to fall short of what I'd expect from cards of these caliber.
If you're interested in a Blue Cash card, my advice is to wait for a better deal to come around.

These welcome offers are a bit weak. Just off the top of my head, I came up with several offers that are better (with lower spend requirements):
- Chase Freedom or Freedom Unlimited: $150 after spending $500 in first 3 months
- Ally Bank Cash Back Card: $100 after spending $500 in first 3 months
- Barclaycard CashForward™ World Mastercard®: $200 after spending $1,000 in first 90 days
- Capital One Quicksilver Card: $100 after you spend $500 during the first 3 months
- Discover it: Cash back earned during the first year is doubled for new cardholders
- BankAmericard Cash Rewards™: $100 after spending $500 in first 90 days

Joanne, thanks for that list. Chase Freedom card really stick out to me as a good deal.

The BankAmericard cash card is nice for BofA customers because of the extra 10% bonus.
