    Cyber Safety for Kids

Just got back from a lecture at my elementary school on cyber safety for kids. It blows my mind about how many crazies their are out there, what the kids are getting into online, and how much bad jsugement is going around.

    Mind. Blown.

    My big takeaways:

First, I am putting a credit freeze on our accounts, even the kids.

Second, I am going to talk to my kids (constructively, I hope) about what is, and what is not, appropriate online behavior.

Third, I am installing Bark on all devices. And I'm going to get my husband to put something on our home router. I can't remember the name of the one the consultant recommended. But I'll get that too.

Fourth, no more devices at meal time. Let's actually talk to each other.

Patenting is hard. And getting harder.

Why do you think I want my kids to be the only ones in the whole middle school with flip phones?

It's like a losing battle. And their mistakes, unlike ours, will live forever cached on a Google server.

It totally scares me how predators are trolling for our kids on all these apps. Frightening times.

We've had those at our school. Very disturbing stuff. I find some of it hard to watch.

We need to get something like this at our school. Teach the students & parents how to be safe online.

Google has recently launched one game:

    Be Internet Awesome

Ask your kids to pay it ... It will help.
